THE GENERAL MODES MENU General Modes
All of the options on this menu can be enabled or disabled. Simply cursor down to the desired item and press RETURN to toggle between "Yes" and "No". To make your preferences the defaults, simply use the "Save Configuration" option on the Customization menu (to be discussed later).
NOTE FEEDBACK - When enabled, an audible tone is heard whenever a pitch or accidental is selected or a note is entered. This allows you to hear the exact pitch of the note you're about to enter before entering it. This option is usually only disabled when MIDI note entry is used.
ACCIDENTAL MODE - This controls whether the editor forces accidentals based on what has already been entered in a measure. According to music theory, when an accidental is found in a measure, ALL subsequent notes of the same pitch in that measure will also be accidentals. Stereo Editor regulates this automatically if you wish.
SCROLL UPDATING - Normally, when you scroll through a voice, the current note displayed on the piano, staff, etc. will be updated to reflect the note that the cursor is on. You can disable this updating if it distracts you.
NEAREST PITCH - When enabled, keyboard entry of note pitches (using the A-G keys) will traverse octaves in order to select the pitch NEAREST to the previous one.
INSERT MODE - If this option is enabled, all notes or commands entered into any voice will be inserted at the cursor position; overwriting does not take place as it normally does.
TIE MODE - Normally, after entering a tied note, the tie symbol is turned off so that the following note will be a normal note (unless "/" is pressed to re- enable the tie). If Tie Mode is activated, the tie designator is never turned off unless done so manually (press "/" to toggle).
WORDS ENABLE - Disable this option to tell Stereo Editor to stop loading any ".WDS" files associated with a SID.
COMMAND UPDATE - Identical to "Scroll Updating" but controls this feature when the command menu is up.
AUTO MIDI ENTRY - When Stereo Editor detects a MIDI interface, you will be able to press keys on the synthesizer to select pitches. If this option is enabled, the notes will also be entered as soon as the key on the synth is pressed. You still MUST set the duration of the note prior to setting the pitch, however.
USE AUX COLORS - When set to "Yes", the timing display screen (F7) during play will use the AUX colors set in the SID being played, if any are set.
