Editor Screen

THE EDITOR SCREEN The Stereo Editor screen is divided into several windows. At the very top, information such as the current measure number and time and key signatures are displayed. Once you have set the time signature to something other than the default 0/0, you will see the capital letter "M" followed by a colon and a number appear in the status window. This number represents the number of beats in the current measure. Sometimes you will see a "+" following the number, indicating fractional beats. Additionally, the letter "T" indicates that there are extra triplet notes in the measure, while the letter "u" signifies that utility durations are present in the measure, which makes the beat count somewhat inaccurate.

Below the status line you will see a Grand Staff, as well as a piano keyboard, both of which show you the position of the current note. The blue-bordered boxes in the center of this window indicate other information about the note, such as its duration and whether it is tied (or slurred) to the following note.

The bottom of the screen shows you the current editing position in each of the six voices, simultaneously, as well as three notes to the left and right of the editing position. A flashing box marks the current position in the current editing voice. There are two distinct movement modes: current voice only and all voices. To show which mode is currently in effect, voice (VOC) numbers are displayed in reverse video for all voices that will respond to movement keys.

Pressing the spacebar toggles between current voice mode and all-voices mode. In all-voices mode, each voice line responds to movement keys.
