THE COMMAND MENU Command Menu
Pressing F5 calls up the command menu, from which you can set envelopes, define and call phrases, etc. This screen is self explanatory. Up/down and left/right cursor keys allow movement on the menu. Pressing the < RETURN > key enters a selection. Press F5 again to return to the normal editing mode.
Some options require a number value and others do not. For instance, wave form (WAV) and tempo (TEM) are set by cursoring to and pressing < RETURN > on the value preferred. You will be told the range of values a particular command may take when you select that command, and your response will only be accepted if it is in the appropriate range.
Special "hot keys" can be used to quickly move around on the Command Menu. For instance, simply typing T E M immediately places the cursor on the TEM command option. In addition, where a number is expected, you can type the first digit of the desired number BEFORE pressing RETURN to save a keystroke.
Voice line movement can be accomplished while at the Command Menu screen by the use of special keys:
< : >, < ; > - Move left/right along the voice being monitored.
< AT KEY >, < / > - Scroll up/down through voices one through six.
< INST >, < DEL > - Delete or insert a space into the voice being monitored.
< F7 >, < F8 > - Search for next occurrence of the current command, to the right or to the left of the current cursor position.
< SPACE > - Toggle movement mode: One or all voices.
There is not enough space here to go into the uses of the commands themselves. This is all explained very well in the Compute! book.
